St. Mary Immaculate Church - Plainfield, Il

St. Mary Immaculate Church

The previous home of this Roman Catholic congregation was destroyed by a massive tornado that cut a deadly swath across this community south of Chicago in 1990. This beautiful worship space rose from the ruins of that tragedy. The loudspeaker cluster serves roughly the front third of the 350 seats and the altar area. The remaining seats are covered by loudpseakers concealed in the ceiling (the six rectangles in the circular ring soffit are grille cloth -- four on the front face are for the loudspeakers serving the congregation, two on either side on the underside cover the choir and the font ). The platform is served by twenty miniature loudspeakers concealed in the arch behind the altar table.
